Q: Tell us about your family and what brought you to Ascension.
A. I’m Katy Mac Dillon, and my husband, Brent, and our daughters, Meyers (4) and Collins (2), found our home at Ascension in 2021. From our very first Sunday, the warmth was unmistakable... and even as the congregation has grown, that spirit of welcome hasn’t faded one bit.
Q: How has serving on the Hospitality team shaped your sense of holy community?
A. Hospitality lets me help “set the table” for gatherings large and small... and from that vantage point, I get to see the kindness and connection that make this church family who they are.
Q: Why is giving to Ascension important to you?
A. Giving and serving have opened up honest conversations with our girls about generosity and purpose... and because they notice everything we do, Brent and I are reminded to show them Christ’s love in tangible ways: how we give, how we serve, and how we treat people.
Q: How has giving changed your relationship with Ascension and with God?
A steady rhythm of giving, both of money and of time, has made me more thoughtful about my choices... and it keeps Christ at the center, which has made my connection to this community richer.
Q: What do you see your giving making possible?
A. I see room for imagination and renewal, in how we welcome people... and in the spaces that support our ministries, as we dream about how best to serve a growing community.
Q: How is giving part of your spiritual practice?
A. Giving asks me to be intentional... aligning my daily life with my faith and letting Christ shape how I show up, serve, and steward what I’ve been given.
Q: How do you see God growing this community, and where do you see new energy?
A. Everywhere! Fuller pews, a growing staff, talk of expanding our campus... God is clearly at work. Newcomer Coffees are a favorite example: what began as coffee for a handful has become a lively gathering of dozens, from empty nesters to young families.
Q: What are your hopes for the next few years?
A. I’d love to welcome more people to the Hospitality team... if you have the gift of helping “set the table,” there are simple, low-effort ways to jump in. Call or text me at 256-221-7245, even if you’re not sure you’re ready to commit!
